Warner Bros and NetherRealm have revealed the details of Mortal Kombat 1’s upcoming “Pre-Order Beta” which will be exclusively available to players who pre-order the game ahead of the scheduled beta dates on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
We now know exactly when those dates and times are, with the beta set to run from August 19th at 1AM AEST to August 22nd at 1AM AEST. Creator Ed Boon announced the dates in a post on X which also revealed that August 18th (the US date) is his mother’s birthday and the release date of the classic 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, for what that’s worth.
Warner Bros has opened up an FAQ page for the Pre-Order Beta with everything you’d need to know ahead of time, but we’ve copied across the most pertinent information below:
A: The Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta will be available for those who pre-order the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The Beta will not be available for Nintendo Switch or PC (Steam / Epic Games Store) players.
A: Anyone who has pre-ordered the Mortal Kombat 1 Standard, Premium, or Kollector’s Edition for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will receive access to the Pre-Order Beta. Check with local retailers for more information.
A: Players who pre-order digitally will automatically receive access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta through their console (PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S). Players will be able to download the Beta on August 16th at a 1AM AEST. No further user action is required.
A: For physical and digital pre-orders made through participating retailers, Beta codes will be provided and redeemable with a Warner Bros. Games Account until the end of the Pre-Order Beta period (Monday, August 22nd at 1AM AEST via the following process:
